In conclusion the history of education is summarised in three periods, viz., a period of orientation and establishment (1922-1934), a period of professional and educational approach to education (1935-1948), and finally a period of rapid development, systematic enquiry into educational matters and a thorough planning for future development
The following aspects are dealt with: central and local control in education; the establishment and maintenance of schools and colleges; the general administration in schools: the teaching staff, including a general survey of the conditions of service of teachers; problems concerning the medium of instruction and the study of languages; compulsory education; curricula and syllabi; the inspection of schools: examinations and the promotion of pupils; auxiliary services in education, e. g. medical inspection of pupils, psychological and guidance services; hostels; continuation courses and adult education
