The 1992 Namibian Communications Act, Section 18 also outline duties for broadcasting license holder, this include amongst others, to encourage the development of Namibian expression by providing a wide range of programming that reflects Namibian attitudes, opinions, ideas, values and artistic creativity and to comply with generally accepted standards of journalistic ethics in the editing of any program to be broadcast. The study sets out to examing the program content of the NBC National Radio to establish if it reflects these requirements and how it is linked with the socio-economic development situation of Namibia
Hypothesis: The NBC National Radio offers very little socio-economic developmental program contents
Objectives of the study: The research attempts to examine the program content of the NBC National radio, compare it with its Mission Statement, the Namibian Communications Communication requirements especially with regard to the socio-economic and cultural developmental needs of Namibia. The study will also investigate if community participation influences government policies, decisions taken by authorities, agencies and business community. The study will also look at, how much control and contribution the ordinary public has into the daily programming of the National Radio of NBC as a public broadcaster
