This paper describes the results of an investigation into the deformed amphiboles of a small part of the Matchless Member and surrounding Kuiseb schists some 10km west of Windhoek. Four phases of deformation were identified
Pressure solution processes were active during the first phase (Dl) to produce the dominant north-east, south-west trending spaced cleavage (S1). Extreme shortening accompanied this event. Subsequent thrusting produced complex F2-folding patterns, boundinage structures and transposition. Dl and D2 are axial planar. Later D3 crenulations and D4 kinking produced non penetrative structures
