dc.description.abstract Abstract by author: en_US
dc.description.abstract This study was conducted at Gochaganas dairy farm which is situated in the south of Windhoek. Data on mastitis was for a 10-year period and was collected from records. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test in SPSS. Incidence of mastitis was related (P0. 05) to season, milk yield and stage of lactation. There were significant differences between quarters in incidence. The hind quarters were affected more than the front quarters. The average incidence over a l0 year period was 2. 6 percent. It was concluded that incidence of mastitis influenced by milk yield, stage of lactation and season. Effective control measures for mastitis are always required. There is a need to study incidence of mastitis on more dairy farms in Namibia and to come up with national figure en_US
