The research was carried out on oyster cultivation in Walvis Bay oyster farm. The objectives of the experiment were to quantity the densities at which spat attains the best growth and to find out what size of dam supports best growth of oysters. It was concluded that the best spat of growth occurred at a low density of 100 oysters per rafter (1m*40cm). The density of 100 oysters produced a mean growth rate of 3. 61g/week, followed by the density of 1200 and 600 oysters, with mean growth rates of 2. 36 and 2. 22 g/week, respectively. The bigger pond with a capacity of 150 000m3 produced significantly better growth compared to the smaller pond size with a capacity of 9000m3
