A probability sample of 40 NIDDM [non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus] patients/clients were reported at diabetes clinic and they were interviewed during the months of October and November 2002. Data was collected using a questionnaire
Findings were, that NIDDM patients/clients did not receive enough or relevant information pertaining to their condition, and that they do experience preventable health problems that could been prevented by giving them health education
Recommendations was based on the findings and conclusions and they were: to strength the self care abilities in individual patient/client; to minimize the self- care deficits; to enhance nursing care systems; and the need to carry out further research in the rest of Namibia in order to come up with a national perspective on the preventable health problems the NIDDM patients/clients experience
