The study focused on the perception of UNAM students with regard to contraceptive usage and communication with friends and partners towards contraceptive usage. How the different mediums of mass media conveyed information on the use of contraceptives

UNAM comprises of students from SADC countries it was essential for the study to be done at UNAM as HIV/AIDS infections and high birth rate is not only a problem in Namibia but also in other Africa countries

The questionnaire used to collect data for the study consisted of (23) closed-ended and (2) open-ended questions making, the study to be a quantitative study

The fact that contraception is based on sexuality, some students found it hard to answer the Questions. The study found that religious and cultural barriers mostly prohibited communication on contraceptive usage. To find a solution health workers, teachers and society leaders should encourage the use of contraceptives
