Abstract by author:
The aim of this study is to identify the effects that are brought about by viewing violent television programs and how this influences the children's aggressive behavior. The study also looked at how television violence affects children from different socio-economic backgrounds and how these children's television viewing habits differ. The sample size for this study is one hundred respondents and they consist only out of children both boys and girls, form the ages of eight to twelve years. These respondents were obtained through accidental sampling and the method that was used for data collection was a questionnaire that was administered in an interview form. This study tested the hypothesis that, the more violent act the children watches on television the more violent they are likely to become. The study found that violent television viewing has got effects on the children's aggressive behavior but it depends on the following factors, the child's age, sex, their aggressive predisposition and level of intelligence
