dc.description.abstract This is an action research study conducted to investigate the reading pattern of youths and the role of libraries in promotion of reading culture. This research lasted for six months and it was carried out in Khomas region, mainly focusing on youths from the age of 13-25. It determined the incidence of reading, the reading interests and reading habits of youths of different groups, sex, age or social and educational level. The data of this study was collected by the means of questionnaires, and it also makes use of available data. The questionnaires were distributed randomly to learners and all youths at different level of education. This study used quantitative method and the emphasis was placed fully on describing the subjective meaning of events to individual caught on them. This study is significant for better understanding of the disparity, which exist in source of information and reading materials among Namibian youths. Therefore the feedback of youths will display what reading materials youths are interested in and whether they are satisfied with the available materials. The data collected was eventually analyzed in the same manner as the respondents present them. en_US
