dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to determine how Windhoek public libraries play an active role in supporting, providing information to small businesses and contribute to economic development. The study intended to determine the current and potential support of the public library to small business and economic development; the ways that Windhoek public library might be helpful to local businesses and economic development as well as to develop more active economic development and business assistance programs en_US
dc.description.abstract This was a survey study, which used both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Data were collected by the use of structured interviews with self-administered questionnaires. City of Windhoek, Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Information Centre were regarded as business information centres that are responsible in disseminating business information. The study employed non-probability sampling using purposive sampling. This was done because participants defined themselves and they were also regarded as expertise ( key informants) en_US
dc.description.abstract SME operators were selected to take part in the study. The number was selected randomly from the sampling frame provided from the small business information centre en_US
dc.description.abstract Findings on this study might be significant to enhance the knowledge relating to this topic and provide a strategy for libraries to develop action plans. Findings might also help public libraries in disseminating business information to small businesses en_US
