Does gender equality go against the teachings of customary law?

Gender equality is one of the hottest topics debated in the world. Coming from an African society, many indigenous people have customary law as part of their lives. This topic was not chosen only because of the appealing feature it encompasses, but my curiosity was triggered as well

This paper is a case study on Hambukushu customary law and gender equality. It inquires about the existence of gender equality in Hambukushu tradition, hence to ascertain whether or not a contradiction exists between the two. It presents a general theoretical background and insight on gender equality in which it should be seen. It also provides the research findings on the issues at hand. The evaluation of the research is given at the end in the concluding chapter.
