Population has increased world wide, consequently electricity consumption has drastically increased. Many countries in the world have decided to look at Nuclear power not just for the production of electricity. Even developing countries have decided to look into the possibility of having nuclear installations to carter for their electricity demand. However most of these developing countries do not meet the international requirements to have nuclear installations. Namibia is one of these developing countries that have thought of nuclear power. The aim of this paper is to examine firstly the international requirements and see if Namibia does in fact meet these requirements. The paper will then look at the national legislations that are in place currently in Namibia and see if the current legal frame work is fit fro a nuclear installation. However it will become clear that Namibia does not satisfy the internal requirement and consequently the Namibian legal and regulatory frame work is not fit for nuclear installation
