dc.description.abstract Every woman, man, youth and child has the human right to a secure place to live, which is fundamental to living in dignity, to physical and mental health, and to overall quality of life. However the UN Centre for Human Settlement still estimates that over 1 billion people worldwide live in inadequate housing, and 100 million are homeless en_US
dc.description.abstract Unfortunately Namibia is not free from this problem. The aim of the paper is to identify to what extent Namibia has tried to remedy this problem. Due to the fact that the topic of housing is broad the paper has identified a problem area, which the paper will discuss. The paper will attempt to discuss the informal settlements in Windhoek these constitutes to home most disadvantaged persons in the capital city. The paper will look at the concept of human rights and the Namibian position with regard to the instruments it finds binding. vThe paper will give a comparative analysis then discuss the concept of good governance in order to conclusively weigh out the extent to which Namibia has complied with the right to adequate housing en_US
