dc.description A research project report submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies (Honours) to the University of Namibia. faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Information and Communication Studies en_US
dc.description.abstract Abstract Studies have shown a strong link between media and its influence on the behaviour of individuals. The broadcast media (TV and Radio) , Print media (Newspapers, books, articles and magazines), Social media (blogs, podcasts, vlogs) etc. have all impacted on the lives of those in the community. These media have fed mass audiences with contents that are wholly accepted according to the hypodermic needle theory. This study was conducted by the researcher during the year 2013. This study employs a qualitative and quantitative research design and data collection method of questionnaires, and interviews. 60 questionnaires were distributed to churches in Windhoek and 58 were returned successfully, while interviews were conducted with four heads of churches. The study's main research question was "Does television impact on the behaviours of Christians in Namibia?" The study focuses on the impact television has on Christians in Namibia, the amount of hours they spend watching television and what sort of programmes they are interested in and also the ones they watch the most. It also outlines the positive and negative effects of television on the Christian faith and if it influences bad or good behaviour. The study recommends that Christians should watch more Christian programmes, and also try to refrain from watching X rated content. en_US
